Roofing in Eugene and Lane County
Re-roofing, repairs and gentle moss care. We tell you what your roof is made of, where the rain goes and what it needs next.

Roof facts
What we put on an estimate, in the order people ask.
Some metal roofing is made partly from recycled steel or aluminum, and some shingles contain recycled material. The share is different for every product, and the maker publishes it. We copy the maker's figure onto your estimate. If a maker doesn't publish one, we say so instead of guessing.
Ask for the maker's data sheet
The figure is written on your estimate
Where the old roof goes is in writing before the job
A cool roof reflects more of the sun's heat than a dark one. The Cool Roof Rating Council keeps a directory of rated products. In Eugene it is a question about summer attics: it can help in July and does little in January.
Rated reflectance for the colors you're choosing between
Attic ventilation matters as much as color
Light and dark roofs both work; you choose
Roof water can go to a barrel, a rain garden or away from the foundation. We plan the gutters, downspouts and overflow with the roof, as one job.
Barrel water is for beds and lawn, not for drinking
A screened inlet keeps mosquitoes out
The overflow always has somewhere to go
Moss holds water against shingles and lifts their edges. Black streaks are mostly algae and mostly cosmetic. We brush gently by hand and fit zinc or copper strips at the ridge. The strips slow regrowth; they don't stop it.
Spring or fall is the right time
No pressure washer, ever
Shaded north slopes need the most care
What we do most

Tear-off to finish, mostly from June through September when the deck stays dry. We sort metal and cardboard out of the tear-off and tell you in writing where the rest goes.
How a re-roof runs
A soft brush, a cleared gutter and strips at the ridge. A visit takes a morning for most houses, and you get photos of the roof before and after.
What a moss visit is
A gutter run, a diverter, a barrel or two and an overflow that goes somewhere sensible, planned with the roof so nothing pools by the foundation.
What goes inThe roof year
Dates move with the weather. We confirm the week when we book.
After the leaves are down, the gutters and valleys are cleared and the downspouts tested with a hose.
No one walks a wet roof. We check from the ground and the attic, and come for leaks when it is safe to go up.
Moss is growing and the roof is dry enough to work on. Strips go in at the ridge.
The deck stays dry, shingles seal well and the crew has long days.
The people
Seven of us. Ursula looks at every roof before anyone writes a number.

Crew lead
Runs the re-roofing crew and the tear-off sort.
Office and scheduling
Books visits, moss care and the dry-month re-roof calendar.
Our part of the valley
The shop is on West 7th Avenue. Moss visits are batched by neighborhood, so ask which week we're in yours.

We don't take jobs on the coast, in Corvallis or Albany, or in the Cascades past Blue River and Lowell.

Sample reviews
“Ursula showed me the moss on the north slope from the ground first, then went up to look. The brushing took one morning, and the estimate said what the strips were for.”
“We re-roofed in August. Joost's crew put the metal in a bin, and the paperwork said where the shingles went before they started.”
“The barrel and the new downspout were on the same estimate as the gutters. The overflow runs to the bed by the fence and nothing pools at the foundation.”

Before you call
Most asphalt shingle roofs are replaced after 20 to 30 years, cedar after 25 to 50 and metal after 40 to 70. In our damp, shaded streets, moss and clogged gutters shorten that, and care stretches it. At the visit we tell you how many years your roof has left and what we based it on.
It depends on the roof's size, pitch, material, how many layers come off and what we find under them. We don't post prices, because a roof is not a product. The estimate page shows what moves the number, and you get it in writing after the visit.
Black streaks are mostly algae and mostly cosmetic. Moss is different: it holds water against the shingles and lifts their edges. We brush it off gently, never with a pressure washer, and zinc or copper strips at the ridge slow it coming back.
If your roof has about ten years of life or less, many roofers suggest replacing it first, because taking panels off and putting them back costs extra. We check the roof's age at the visit and tell you which should come first.
Age near the end of the material's life, curling or missing shingles, granules in the gutters, a sagging deck, daylight or stains in the attic and damaged flashing. Moss alone is not a reason to replace a roof.
Two parts. The maker's material warranty covers the product, and our workmanship warranty covers how we installed it. The terms and what each one covers are written in your contract before you sign.
Your estimate lists the deposit and the payment schedule before you sign. If we offer financing, the lender, the rate and the term are written beside it.
Book a visit
A few lines is plenty. Ursula or Jisoo calls back on the next working day to set a time. We come to you, look at the roof, the attic and the gutters, and write the estimate down.
